Why We Exist

Attack the issue: more Paid Internships & Training

Rising tuition and record student loan debt. Too many unpaid internships. Over 50% of college grads unemployed or taking jobs that don’t require a degree.

We said: “That’s unacceptable.” 

In 2014, a group of business executives founded UpTurnships and attacked these issues. Volunteering their time, they began:

  • Recruiting new sources of motivated, diverse college students.
  • Partnering with Twin Cities’ employers for paid internships.
  • Delivering 150+ hours of business training and coaching to these deserving students.

Program alumni have responded. 86% have jobs in their field at graduation and provide a strong talent pipeline for Twin Cities employers.
