Attack the issue: more Paid Internships & Training
Rising tuition and record student loan debt. Too many unpaid internships. Over 50% of college grads unemployed or taking jobs that don’t require a degree.
We said: “That’s unacceptable.”
In 2014, a group of business executives founded UpTurnships and attacked these issues. Volunteering their time, they began:
- Recruiting new sources of motivated, diverse college students.
- Partnering with Twin Cities’ employers for paid internships.
- Delivering 150+ hours of business training and coaching to these deserving students.
Program alumni have responded. 86% have jobs in their field at graduation and provide a strong talent pipeline for Twin Cities employers.
Now we say: “That’s exceptional. Keep going.”
