Briza Maldonado

Program Coordinator

Briza is dedicated to championing underrepresented people from all walks of life. As a first generation American from South Texas, Briza became passionate about advancing immigrant rights. After years of working in legal services in Texas, Briza decided to pursue a graduate degree in public policy at the Humphrey School of Public Affairs in Minneapolis, MN. During her time in graduate school, Briza worked with local Twin Cities immigrant rights nonprofits to connect refugees to legal services. Her time in graduate school helped her develop a passion for nonprofit organizations - especially those that work to empower individuals that are underrepresented. Briza is the first in her family to get a graduate degree and understands firsthand the importance of having mentors and support networks to help people achieve their career and personal goals. Before attending graduate school, Briza earned a B.A. in International Relations and Latin American Studies from the University of Texas at Austin.
