UpTurnships is a 501c3 nonprofit that helps underrepresented college students secure paid internships. Our vision is a workforce that promotes equitable access and opportunity for ALL to THRIVE.

 

UpTurnships seeks to disrupt the way America sources, seeks, and enjoys work. Our goal is to prepare, equip, and provide paid meaningful work experiences for under-resourced and underrepresented college students while partnering with employers who are committed to building a more equitable, inclusive and diverse workforce. We provide over 100 hours of business coaching and training to ensure UpTurns success in the workplace, and unconscious bias training four times annually to employer partners.

Our average UpTurn:

  • is Pell grant eligible and/or paying the majority of their college tuition and expenses through scholarships, work study, grants, and student loans

  • is a first-generation college student

  • and is highly motivated, yet unseen to the job market.

           

Summary

This position is responsible for supporting the work of the Director of Strategic Partnerships and Communications (DSPC). Through this work the Partnerships Coordinator builds capacity and growth in external relations and institutional partnerships. In supporting the work of the DSPC this position is responsible for identifying and vetting new prospects for institutional partnerships, processes for stewarding existing partners and supporting the growth of institutional partners in both quantity and depth. The Partnerships Coordinator is a key liaison between institutional partners and the internal team at UpTurnships, including the program team. This work is carried out using various systems, which this position plays a primary role in managing. Critical success factors include high organization skills, attention to detail, high proficiency using and managing multiple systems to drive efficiencies; strong process skills to streamline our work; able to display and document our process / strategies / workflow / decisions.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

 

Executive Support (20%)

 

  • Keep records in CRM: record all new contacts, update contact information, pull contact lists as needed, record all meeting notes and/or grant notes, record all donations, etc. 

  • Track and report on employer projects and internships, donations, employer fees, etc. 

  • Accountable for maintaining documentation with external parties (volunteers, program applicants, UpTurns, employers).

  • Support the DSPC in work with individual partners and meetings

 

Institutional Partnerships

 

Prospecting, Stewardship and Growth (40%)

 

  • Conduct prospect research on potential new institutional partners by creating prospect lists, comprehensive prospect profiles and by prepping the DSPC for key meetings.

  • Implement processes and procedures for quality stewardship of key institutional partners.

  • Accountable for communication, coordination and documentation of employer processes including but not limited to Employer Equity Partnerships

  • Track and report on institutional partner progress and pull key lists and queries using a CRM and various reporting tools.

  • Provide additional development support by: 

    • Assisting with grant data as needed.

    • Assisting in UpTurn and employer event planning, including strategy, writing communications, logistics, event set-up, participant tracking, etc... as needed.

 

Institutional Partner and Internal Liaison Work (40%)

 

  • Responsible for providing intricate employer support as a liaison that drives effective and efficient execution and communication among the team and employer partners (i.e., matching UpTurns with employer partners, managing interviews, track & analyzing key measures, tracking projects, updating status on process/projects).

  • Vet incoming institutional partnership requests, assess potential level of partnership and identify which UpTurnships staff is the appropriate portfolio manager for the partner (e.g. ED, DSPC or Program Director)

  • Collaborate with program team to facilitate ease of program and participant management.

 
Required Job Qualifications

  • Experience in communication, partnership development, project management, research, and/or related experience.

  • Exceptional soft skills.

  • Proficient technical/PC skills; expert user of Microsoft Suite, Zoom, Outlook, etc.

  • Superb organizational and time management skills.

  • Highly skilled in building and maintaining cross-cultural and multi- sector professional relationships.

  • Able to easily learn various software systems to modify a status of a participant, employer, volunteer or produce a new report.

  • Able to work effectively in a primarily remote capacity. When needed be available for in-person events, key meetings, and programming.

  • Skilled in video conferencing.

  • Large capacity to meet the needs of a high growth, innovative organization.

  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong racial equity and cultural competency.

 

Education/Certifications/Licenses

  • Associate degree required. Have a minimum of 1-2 years of related experience.

Computer/Software Skills

  • Strong computer skills, including demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office products.

  • Ability to learn enterprise operating system’s tools for tracking jobs, donors and connecting with key stakeholders. This includes email capability as well as process management components of the operating system.

  • Experience with Salesforce preferred but not required.

 

Hours and Pay

  • $42,000-$46,000

Location and Travel

UpTurnships is primarily virtual with no central office presently.

  • This position will work remotely. Interactions with team members will be via phone, text, email and video conferencing.
